Kerry Morris, who lives in the Grand Boulevard area, attended the GBRRA AGM. Kerry has put his name forth as a candidate for Mayoral position in the upcoming City of North Van Municipal Election Nov.15. Kerry spoke with great enthusiasm to all who attended. His website is www.kerrymorris.ca.
Following Kerry, Ric Erickson from the non-profit Bee Friendly Society gave a very interesting and informative talk at the AGM. Ric’s mission is to provide education about the native bees in BC and to protect them. One of the ways we can protect native bees is to leave some areas of our gardens undisturbed. Many of the native bees over-winter in the ground and should be left alone in order to survive. Growing a variety of native plants will provide food for the bees and other pollinators.
Ric’s website is www.beefriendly.ca. On his website is a list of ten things you can do to create a bee-friendly garden. You will also find an extensive list of native plants for the garden as well as pictures and descriptions of many of our native bees.
